Because everybody needs a little TLC: Aqueous Digital’s secret to success

This is the bit where we say we’re delighted, right?

And, of course, we are.

Making the shortlist for ‘Search Agency of the Year’ at the Northern Digital Awards makes us feel other emotions too.

It is uplifting, more than a decade on from Aqueous Digital’s formation, that the approach to Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) adopted then remains not only relevant, but continues to deliver results.

That suits us, because we don’t want to compromise.

A Cheshire-based digital marketing agency founded by Jonathan Guy and his wife, Emma, Aqueous supports customers across the UK with both paid search and organic SEO, reputation management, and content strategy creation services.

The core values of trust, loyalty, and collaboration are at the heart of everything we do and have proven to be instrumental to our own success and that those we collaborate with.

By concentrating on building strong relationships and creating campaigns that not only deliver real, measurable outcomes but also align with our customer’s goals, Aqueous sticks to a formula that works.

When that’s recognised by judges, peers, or even just interested observers, we feel genuine pride.

And it’s happened often in 2023, by the way.

Our objectives for the year included targets around the following areas:

  • People development by investing in training and talent
  • Revenue targets
  • Introduce system and process efficiencies
  • Customer retention

It was a challenge, but we reached our goals.

Over the past three years, Aqueous has doubled sales and improved customer retention all while increasing the overall number of customers.

To do that, we’ve needed to expand to meet demand.

From a team comprising of six members five years ago, there is now more than 25.

And yet we remain a close-knit bunch, which is why winning in the ‘Large Family Business’ category at the Halton Business Awards 2023 is one of our most treasured moments.

Maintaining a family-orientated ethos gets harder as a staff grows, but that won’t stop us trying.

After all, our customers really like that about us.

Aqueous Digital’s managing director, Jonathan Guy, explains: “Most of the nominees for a Northern Digital Award will tell you that trophies aren’t the reason they go to work in the morning. And we’re no different.

“However, it is one way of saying to your team: ‘Look, your peers reckon you’re doing a great job.’

“That resonates, I think.

“Our agency’s roots are in the north of England, and while we have customers from across the UK and beyond, we’re acutely aware of that strong connection to the region where we’re based.

“Most of our team is from the area, and so being able to celebrate success at the Northern Digital Awards would mean plenty to them.”

Aqueous Digital was also a finalist in two categories at the recent UK Search Awards 2023; the Best Small SEO Agency, and the Best Low Budget Campaign (SEO) (Small).
